’My life was good, but I always had my eye on what was next. And that “next” was out west.’ Curtis Fortier ’’I wanted to be an actor and comedian consistently so I could get better and better at it.’’ - Curtis Fortier

The Troupe opened a door for me. It showed me I could actually do this
full time.

A ctor and stand-up comedian Curtis Fortier was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he honed his comedy chops amidst a large Irish Catholic family that included two brothers, a sister and more than 30 cousins. After 12 years of Catholic school Curtis went onto perform with The Calumet Players and then The Troupe improv group at his alma mater Michigan Tech where he received his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering having done his thesis on the space shuttle.

After a brief stint with General Motors doing the 9 – 5, he embarked on a career as a stand-up traveling the Comedy Club circuit with extended stays at The Improv in Cleveland, Connextions in Toledo, and The Funny Bone in Omaha. He also did two trips overseas with the group Comics on Duty to perform for troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As well as roles on TV and film Curtis has appeared in several plays, most memorably in “Romeo & Juliet: The Last Battlefield”, a production combining Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” with the original “Star Trek” series where he played the Prince of Verona/Captain Kirk character in a performance immortalized in Roger Nygard’s film “Trekkies 2”.

…he enjoys swimming, swing dancing, his comic book collection and orbital mechanics.

Most recently Curtis appeared on Apple TV’s For All Mankind, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and on ScreamBox in the comedy/horror film Secret Santa. Over the past few years though Curtis has added writer and executive producer to his resume being the writer and executive producer of the web-series “12 Sided Die” which is directed by Star Trek: Voyager alum Tim Russ and stars Star Trek: Deep Space Nine alums Andrew Robinson and Kitty Swink (www.12sideddie.com).

When Curtis is not appearing on TV or globetrotting with his stand-up act, he enjoys swimming, swing dancing, his comic book collection and orbital mechanics. He lives in Santa Monica, California.
